Lifetime Achievement Award

Criteria

The following criteria will apply to all WSWA Awards:

  • Nominees must be a member in good standing of WSWA and WSWC;

  • Nominees can be competitive or recreational athletes however professional athletes will not be considered;

  • Nominees should be residents of Alberta, however extenuating circumstances  may be considered;

  • Nominations will be reviewed by the WSWA Awards Committee;

  • Nominations can be forwarded by any affiliate member or individual member;

  • Every nomination form must also include at least one letter of support for the nomination from  the nominator.

How do I Nominate?

  • Click on the 'Nominate Now!' Button located at the bottom of the page and complete the form in FULL. 

  • Fill out WHO you want to Nominate.

  • Then fill out information about you – the Nominator.

  • Part of the Nomination Process is to include a Letter of Support by you, explaining why you think this member is deserving of this award.  Please UPLOAD this letter of support. You will receive instructions in your email confirmation.

The Award Categories in Detail

Volunteer of the Year:

This award is presented to an outstanding Alberta volunteer to recognize their contributions to the sport across the province in the last year.  Volunteers from all disciplines will be considered.  Please include details of volunteer hours, events, and roles in the nomination form.  Note that volunteer hours excluding officiating will be considered and that officiating contributions should be included in the Official of the Year nomination.

 

Official of the Year:

This award is presented to an outstanding Alberta official to recognize their officiating efforts in the province, nationally, and internationally in the last year.  Officials from all disciplines will be considered.  Please include details of officiated events, roles, and hours in the nomination form.  Note that only officiating contributions should be included, and other volunteer efforts should be noted in the Volunteer of the Year nomination.

 

Female Athlete of the Year for Water Ski

This award is presented to an outstanding female athlete from Alberta that has shown commitment, discipline and had significant personal achievements in the last year.  Athletes from the discipline of water skiing will be considered.  Please include details of personal bests, new records, and a brief athlete bio in the nomination.

 

Male Athlete of the Year for Water Ski

This award is presented to an outstanding male athlete from Alberta that has shown commitment, discipline and had significant personal achievements in the last year.  Athletes from the discipline of water skiing will be considered.  Please include details of personal bests, new records, and a brief athlete bio in the nomination.

 

Developing Athlete of the Year for Water Ski

This award is presented to an outstanding athlete (male or female) from Alberta that has shown significant personal achievements or improvement in the past year.  Athletes at any stage of development and from water skiing will be considered.  Please include details of personal bests, new records, and a brief bio in the nomination.

Female Athlete of the Year for Wake

This award is presented to an outstanding female athlete from Alberta that has shown commitment, discipline and had significant personal achievements in the last year.  Athletes from the discipline of wakeboard or wakesurf will be considered.  Please include details of personal bests, new records, and a brief athlete bio in the nomination.

 

Male Athlete of the Year for Wake

This award is presented to an outstanding male athlete from Alberta that has shown commitment, discipline and had significant personal achievements in the last year.  Athletes from the discipline of wakeboard or wakesurf will be considered.  Please include details of personal bests, new records, and a brief athlete bio in the nomination.

 

Developing Athlete of the Year for Wake

This award is presented to an outstanding athlete (male or female) from Alberta that has shown significant personal achievements or improvement in the past year.  Athletes at any stage of development and from wakeboard or wakesurf will be considered.   Please include details of personal bests, new records, and a brief bio in the nomination.

Lifetime Achievement Award:

This award is presented to an outstanding water sport enthusiast, volunteer, or participant (male or female) from Alberta that has shown significant contributions to the sport.  This is an individual who has made  a HUGE impact on the sport over many years.  Their efforts have helped grow towed water sports in Alberta and will have a lasting impact within the community.  They will have demonstrated their ability to be an ambassador for the sport and a role model for other enthusiasts.  Please include details of benchmarks, achievements, and exceptional outcomes from their efforts in the nomination.  Please note that achievements outside of the last 12 months will be considered and should be included in the nomination.  This award may be given to any current or past member of WSWA.  This award is not necessarily awarded each year.  Nominations for this award only will be reviewed by the current Board, and the Board will determine if a Lifetime Achievement Award will be awarded to a nominee.
